Nepalese Stock Market Shows Weekly Anomaly, Challenges Market Efficiency
The Nepalese stock market was studied to see if it follows patterns seen in other markets. Daily data from 1995 to 2004 was analyzed. Results show a consistent day-of-the-week anomaly, but no holiday, turn-of-the-month, or time-of-the-month effects. There was also no month-of-the-year anomaly or half-month effect. This suggests that the Nepalese stock market is not fully efficient in terms of the day-of-the-week anomaly, but is efficient in other aspects.
