Tiny phosphate powder boosts crop yield and reduces heavy metal contamination
The researchers studied how different sizes and amounts of phosphate powder can help reduce cadmium and lead in soil. They found that using smaller phosphate powder sizes and higher amounts led to better results. When using 0.1 μm phosphate powder at 4 g·kg-1per soil, the yield and leaf area of plants increased significantly. The levels of cadmium and lead in the plants and soil decreased, while the soil residual levels increased. This shows that using phosphate powder can help decrease the harmful metals in the soil, making it safer for plants to grow.
