The aim was to cut Indonesia's greenhouse gas emissions by 26% by 2020 using a subsidy for forestry. They figured out that the subsidy cost for reaching this goal is a little over $1 per ton of carbon saved. This cost was compared to other methods and the potential price of carbon under the planned REDD program.
