Optimizing Nitrogen Levels Boosts Maize Yield and Farmer Income Dramatically
The study looked at how different levels of nitrogen and plant growth regulators affect maize plants. They tested 12 treatments in a randomized block design. The treatment with 120 kg of nitrogen and NAA at 40 ppm had the tallest plants, the most cobs per plant, the heaviest seeds, the highest grain yield, the greatest gross return, and the best benefit-cost ratio. Another treatment with 80 kg of nitrogen and Mepiquat Chloride at 200 ppm had the highest harvest index.
