Mulching in garlic farming boosts yield and slashes weed growth!
A study on weed management in garlic found that using straw mulch at 10 t/ha reduced weed population, leading to higher garlic growth and yield. Applying oxyfluorfen at 0.223 kg/ha also decreased weed density and increased garlic yield compared to untreated plots. The combination of 10 t/ha straw mulch and oxyfluorfen application resulted in the highest benefit-cost ratio. These findings suggest that using mulch and herbicides can effectively control weeds and improve garlic production.
