Community Organizations in India Revolutionize Poverty Alleviation Efforts
Poverty is a big problem in India, affecting 38% of the population in 2013. The country has made progress in reducing poverty, but it's not evenly spread. It will take 41 more years to eliminate poverty completely if things stay the same. To help, the government is focusing on getting poor people involved in the economy through community organizations like cooperatives and Self Help Groups. These groups empower people, create jobs, and provide support. NGOs and other organizations also play a role in bringing communities together for development. India has many of these community organizations, which are important in fighting poverty and social exclusion.
