Optimizing Water and Nitrogen Boosts Winter Wheat Yield and Efficiency.
The study looked at how different levels of water and nitrogen affected the growth of winter wheat. They found that giving the wheat 60-80% of the soil's water capacity and 150-300kg of nitrogen per hectare led to the highest chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate. More nitrogen led to more nitrogen in the wheat stems, and the best combination was 60% water capacity with 150kg of nitrogen. This combination also had the highest nitrogen translocation and grain yield, showing it was the most efficient way to grow winter wheat.
