Gender wage discrimination rampant in Myanmar's urban labor markets, study finds.
The study looked at the gender wage gap in urban areas of Myanmar in 2017. Despite women having higher education levels than men, they still earn 14-35% less. Even when comparing men and women with the same education and experience in the same job, women still earn 13% less. This shows that there is significant discrimination against women in Myanmar's urban job market, especially for uneducated women in low-paying jobs.
