The study analyzed changes in the landscape structure of Mengjiagang Forest Farm in Heilongjiang Province using maps and data from 1989 and 2006. By calculating landscape patterns, researchers found that as the variety of landscape types increased, the diversity and dominance of the landscape also increased. The dominant tree type, Larix gmelinii, is decreasing in dominance, suggesting a shift in the forest composition. Broad-leaved and Mixed forests mainly consist of mature trees, while coniferous forests have a mix of middle-aged and near-mature trees. Human activities are speeding up the simplification of the forest's age structure.
