China's Energy Consumption and Exports Drive Environmental Damage, Study Finds
Energy consumption, population density, and exports are being studied to see if they are causing environmental damage in China. The researchers used data from 1971 to 2018 and found that energy consumption and economic growth are the main reasons for CO2 emissions, both in the short and long term. Surprisingly, exports actually reduce CO2 emissions in the long run. The study also found that economic growth leads to increased energy consumption, CO2 emissions, and exports in the short term. Additionally, there are long-term connections between CO2 emissions and exports. The researchers suggest five policy recommendations based on their findings.
