Firms that consistently invest in research and development (R&D) tend to be more productive than those that don't. This is especially true for firms located in metropolitan areas, where productivity levels are even higher. The study used data from Swedish companies to show that R&D-focused firms in metropolitan regions outperform others in terms of productivity.
