The article looks at how knowledge and knowledge sharing affect productivity in different regions of Europe. They use regional patent numbers to represent knowledge and a special index to measure productivity. By analyzing data from 203 regions over six time periods, they found that knowledge spillovers have a significant impact on regional productivity.
