The article presents methods to track leaf abundance in forests using sunlight measurements. These methods accurately show changes in leaf coverage over time and match well with other measurements. One method, in particular, shows a strong relationship with traditional leaf measurements. The study reveals that satellite data sometimes misjudges the start and end of the growing season compared to the new methods. Overall, these new methods provide detailed information on leaf growth and can help us understand how plants respond to climate change.
