Trade Openness Worsens Poverty in Ethiopia Despite Boosting Agricultural Productivity
This study looks at how trade affects poverty in Ethiopia through its impact on agricultural productivity. The researchers used a complex economic model linked to simulating real-life scenarios to study this. They found that when Ethiopia opens up to more trade and reduces tariffs, agricultural productivity improves. However, the increase in poverty during the simulation suggests that trade openness might not benefit everyone equally in the short term.
