Dynamic travel model predicts when and how people choose to travel.
Activity based travel demand models aim to predict how people travel based on their activities. This study introduces a new model that considers the choice of departure time, number of trips, location, purpose, and mode of transport. By using dynamic discrete choice theory, the researchers were able to create a more accurate model that captures the trade-offs in activity decisions throughout the day. The model was tested on travel diaries and successfully replicated the distribution of daily trips, departure times, and travel durations.
