Revolutionizing rice farming in India: SRI method boosts profits and efficiency
The System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method of rice cultivation in West Bengal was compared to the conventional method in terms of cost and efficiency. The study found that SRI had lower nursery costs and higher returns per rupee of total cost compared to the conventional method. SRI farmers were more technically efficient, but faced challenges like water management and lack of skilled labor. Literacy level and distance from canals influenced the likelihood of adopting SRI.
