A social program in Mexico called PROGRESA was studied using a method called Regression Discontinuity Design. By looking at a specific eligibility rule, researchers found that the program had varying effects in different regions. They also discovered that the program had an impact on children who were not supposed to be eligible in the areas where it was implemented.
