Chinese consumers willing to pay more for healthier processed meat
Chinese consumers are willing to pay more for processed meat products with nutrition claims like "increased calcium" and "reduced salt." A study in Xi'an and Beijing found that these claims are attractive to consumers and can influence their purchasing decisions. Consumers in China are open to both domestic and imported functional meat products. The origin of the product can impact how much consumers are willing to pay for these claims. Different strategies are needed to target different consumer segments in the Chinese market. This research is the first to explore how Chinese consumers value functional meat products, showing potential for foreign food manufacturers in China.
