New Peanut Cultivars Show Strong Drought Resistance Traits for Higher Yields
Drought stress is a big problem for growing peanuts. Scientists studied 12 different peanut types to see how they handle drought. They found that some peanuts are better at resisting drought than others. Some peanuts have strong roots that can absorb water well, while others have strong antioxidants to protect them from drought. The weight, volume, and absorption area of the roots can show how well peanuts can handle drought. One type of peanut, Shanhua 11, is really good at resisting drought. This study helps us understand which peanuts are best at surviving drought and why.
