Revolutionary Fertilization Methods Reduce Nitrogen Loss and Boost Crop Yields
Different fertilization methods were tested on cabbage fields to see how they affect nitrogen use efficiency and nitrogen loss. Special fertilizers increased cabbage yields significantly compared to chemical fertilizers and organic manure. Nitrogen use efficiency improved as the amount of nitrogen applied decreased. Most nitrogen loss occurred through surface runoff, with special fertilizers reducing total nitrogen loss compared to chemical fertilizers. Nitrate was the main form of nitrogen loss in surface runoff, while ammonium was the main form in leachate. Overall, special fertilizers were more effective in reducing nitrogen loss from vegetable fields.
