Turning Rice Straw into Nutritious Animal Feed Boosts Food Security
The researchers aimed to improve the amount of sugar obtained from rice straw by using steam explosion processing. They divided the process into two stages, controlling the pressure at each stage. By adjusting the pressure and cooking time, they found that higher pressure and longer cooking time led to a significant increase in sugar yield. The best conditions resulted in a sugar yield that was almost double compared to the control group. This shows that optimizing steam explosion processing can greatly improve the amount of sugar extracted from rice straw.
