China's Old Industrial Heartland Undergoes Dramatic Manufacturing Shift, Reshaping Regional Economies
This article examines how manufacturing industries in Jilin Province, China are clustering together over time. The study shows that the degree of manufacturing clustering is increasing, with a central region being the main area of concentration. The types of industries in the region are changing, with a decrease in labor-intensive industries and an increase in technology and capital-intensive ones. Factors like marketing, location, labor, capital, technology, and globalization all play a role in this clustering. In the future, policies, export markets, and resident quality will have a bigger impact on how industries group together in the region.
