The KNAT1/BP gene plays a crucial role in the development of abscission zones in Arabidopsis thaliana. Mutations in this gene lead to shorter flower stalks, tilted seed pods, and smaller plants. The abnormal development of abscission zones in these mutants results in altered hormone signaling and metabolism, affecting the growth and shape of the plant. This study highlights the importance of KNAT1/BP in regulating the development of abscission zones in Arabidopsis.
