Revolutionizing Wheat Growth: Integrated Nutrient Management Boosts Yields and Profits
The researchers studied how different nutrient management methods affect the growth and yield of wheat. They tested 12 different fertility levels on a wheat variety called HUW-234. The results showed that using 125% of recommended fertilizer with 25% nitrogen from vermicompost gave the best results in terms of tiller number, leaf area, spike length, grain yield, and straw yield. However, using 100% recommended fertilizer with 25% nitrogen from farmyard manure resulted in the highest harvest index. The combination of 100% recommended fertilizer with 25% nitrogen from vermicompost led to the highest net return and benefit-cost ratio.
