Study reveals forest communities richer in plant diversity than shrublands
The study looked at different types of plants in Foping National Reserve to see how diverse they are. They used different measures to compare the diversity of plants in forests, shrubs, and meadows. They found that forests have more diverse plants than shrubs and meadows. Deciduous broad-leaved forests have more diversity than coniferous forests, and oak forests have more diversity than popular and birch forests. As you go higher in elevation, plant diversity decreases. In forests, the tree and shrub layers have similar diversity, while the herbaceous layer has the highest diversity.
