Urban seniors more likely to start businesses due to higher demand
Older individuals in Finland are more likely to start their own businesses in urban areas than in rural areas due to higher demand and education levels. Those with prior self-employment experience are more likely to start a business in urban areas, while those without prior experience are equally likely to start in rural or urban areas. Most older entrepreneurs transition from paid employment, with some coming from non-employment. Men and highly educated individuals are more likely to start a business out of choice, while women, unmarried individuals, and those with less education are more likely to start out of necessity. Both necessity- and opportunity-driven entrepreneurs have prior self-employment experience.
