Trade Liberalization Policies Offer Promising Path to Poverty Reduction in South Asia
In this research, a special computer model was made to look at how trade policies in South Asia affect poverty. The model focused on big countries like India and included data on cities and countryside areas. By looking at how goods are made and how people move for work, the model studied how opening up trade could help lessen poverty. The study discovered that when trade rules are relaxed, it can help lower poverty levels if combined with other helpful actions. This means that opening up to trade might be one way to improve living conditions for many people in South Asia.
