EU-Africa Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) are facing challenges due to objections from Nigeria, which wants to protect its industries. The current form of the ECOWAS EPA may not benefit both partners equally. Scholarly evaluations show barriers to sustainable development in African economies. African states are increasingly willing to challenge EU interests, supported by civil society organizations.
