Manufacturing firms in Africa are mostly informal and smaller compared to firms in other regions. Despite challenges like poor infrastructure and heavy regulations, firms in Sub-Saharan Africa are actually more productive than elsewhere. Improving the business environment could help African firms perform better. Each country should identify and address specific constraints to boost their manufacturing sector. Africa is capable of competing globally in manufacturing goods, contrary to common belief.
