Toxic levels of As and Ni found in Ankara dam lake sediment.
The researchers studied sediment from three dam lakes in Ankara to see if certain elements were present at harmful levels. They found that nickel and arsenic levels were concerning, with these two elements making up most of the toxic effect in the lakes. Arsenic was found to be accumulating at medium to high levels in one of the lakes. Overall, the total element accumulation in the lakes did not pose a risk. Each lake had a different mix of elements in their sediment, with one lake showing the highest variation throughout the year.
