Super rice breakthrough boosts crop yields and food security in China
The study analyzed the characteristics of dry matter production and accumulation in super rice varieties in South China. They found that higher yield was linked to more dry matter at maturity and from heading to maturity. Super-high yield populations had more biomass at maturity and better leaf area dynamics compared to high and higher yield populations. The super-high yield population also had higher output and translocation of dry matter. Overall, the super-high yield rice varieties showed superior dry matter production and accumulation compared to high and higher yield varieties.
