Lake Chaohu Eutrophication Worsens Despite Efforts, Urgent Pollution Control Needed.
The study looked at how Lake Chaohu became more polluted over time due to factors like increased waste and lack of investment. From 1995 to 2007, the water quality improved as direct waste was limited. However, after 2008, the lake remained highly polluted. Pollution levels varied across the lake, with the western side being more polluted due to three main rivers. In 2013, pollution from these rivers decreased, especially in the Shiwuli River. Overall, to reduce pollution, changes in economic development and pollution control are needed.
