Revolutionizing crop yields: New fertilizer recommendations for maize and chickpea.
Researchers conducted a field experiment to determine the amount of fertilizer needed for maize and chickpea crops in Indo-Gangetic plains. They found that applying biogas slurry increased grain yields. Maize and chickpea responded to nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium applications up to certain amounts. The required nutrient accumulation for 1 tonne of grain yield was calculated for both crops. The study also revealed the ratios of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium needed for optimal growth. Additionally, the researchers developed equations to estimate fertilizer requirements based on soil nutrient levels and recovery efficiency. These findings can help farmers in the region make informed decisions about fertilizing their crops for better yields.
