Nuclear-powered rail system could replace Saudi oil imports for U.S.
Securing enough liquid fuels for transportation is a big challenge. The US relies on foreign sources for 15% of its transportation fuels. To address this, we need to find new ways to produce and use fuels. One idea is to switch to nuclear power for generating electricity and powering trains. If we did this, we could replace a lot of oil imports. It's important to explore realistic alternatives to traditional fuels to improve energy security.
