Growing Disparities: Romanian Counties Struggle with Income and Productivity Convergence
The article examines how different regions in Romania have changed economically before and after joining the European Union. It looks at both real (actual) and structural (how things are organized) convergence, which are important for economic growth and development. The study found that counties in Romania had varying levels of success in adapting to the EU market, with some improving and others struggling. Poorer counties had more trouble increasing productivity, while some wealthier counties also faced challenges.
