Soil nutrients decline while plant photosynthesis peaks at midday.
The study looked at how the soil and plants of Ferula ferulaeoides change as they grow. They found that as the plant grows, the soil gets drier and has less nutrients. The plant's photosynthesis process has two peaks during the day, with a break at 2:00 PM. The plant uses water most efficiently during the maturation period. The amount of light and stomatal conductance affect how well the plant can photosynthesize.
