Regional productivity differences in the European Union were analyzed using a spatial perspective and the New Economic Geography model. The study found that region-specific factors play a significant role in productivity variations, with national productivity regimes being a major influence. While there is a trend towards convergence in production, there is also divergence in employment levels. State-specific effects have a strong impact on regional development dynamics over time.
