Revolutionary Gene Boosts Rice Transformation Efficiency by Over 2800%
The researchers enhanced rice transformation efficiency by introducing a gene from Arabidopsis thaliana called AtHTA1 under the control of a maize ubiquitin promoter. Rice plants expressing AtHTA1 showed a 2844% increase in transformation efficiency compared to control plants. Additionally, co-infection of rice calli with a vector containing AtHTA1 and another vector carrying the target gene resulted in a 2750% increase in transformation. This means that introducing AtHTA1 temporarily or stably improved rice transformation efficiency.
