In Malawi, efforts to reduce poverty have been ongoing, but poverty remains a significant issue. Various strategies have been implemented by the government, such as the Poverty Alleviation Program and the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy. Despite these efforts, poverty is still widespread in the country. A review of the poverty literature and data in Malawi has been conducted to understand recent trends and identify the factors contributing to poverty. The analysis has revealed gaps in knowledge and research that need to be addressed to better tackle poverty in Malawi.
