Trade models that don't consider product quality often underestimate how prices change with trade. By including product quality in trade equations, researchers found that trade price elasticities can be more accurately estimated. Survey data was used to create a quality proxy, and the results from studying EU member States show that product quality does affect trade price elasticities, especially for products that are traditionally very different from each other.
