New Rice Cultivars in Jiangsu Province Promise Higher Quality Grains
The study analyzed the quality properties of high-yielding Japonica rice cultivars in Jiangsu Province. They found that certain properties like grain length, chalkiness, and protein content were important for identifying rice quality. The relationship between quality properties and agronomic properties was complex. To improve rice quality in Jiangsu Province, selecting panicles with suitable grain density and few second branches, as well as grains with a certain length and weight, were identified as important strategies.
