The study compared how well forest canopies in plantations and natural forests catch rain. Plantation forests are better at catching light rain under 30mm because they have more branches and leaves. Natural forests are not as good at catching light rain, but they are better at catching heavy rain over 30mm. Natural forests can hold more rain than plantation forests before getting full.
