Dynamic train tracks on cable-stayed bridges need base plates for safety.
The article explores how ballastless tracks on long-span plate-truss cable-stayed bridges respond to train vibrations. A model was created to analyze the dynamic interactions between the train, track, and bridge. The study found that a base plate is necessary for the track on these bridges. It also showed that the stiffness of the elastic vibration-damping pad affects the dynamic responses of the bridge deck and bed slab. The research suggests an optimal stiffness value for the vibration-damping pad.
