Low-tillering winter wheat thrives in late sowing, combating global warming.
Low-tillering winter wheat cultivars are better suited for late sowing due to global warming effects. Researchers studied two wheat varieties with different sowing dates and found that late sowing maintained high grain yield by increasing nitrogen accumulation and photosynthesis after flowering. High-tillering cultivars had lower yields due to decreased spike number and photosynthesis. Low-tillering cultivars are more adaptable to late sowing and can mitigate the impact of global warming on winter wheat production.
