Bare dry cultivation boosts nutrient quality in upland rice grains
The study looked at how different amounts of nitrogen affected the quality of upland rice and paddy rice grown in different ways. They found that high nitrogen levels decreased grain yield in paddy rice but increased it in upland rice. Nitrogen levels also affected the appearance and nutrient quality of the grains, with different effects on upland and paddy rice. Dry cultivation improved the quality of upland rice, while paddy rice had better appearance and cooking quality. Overall, upland rice had better nutrient quality but poorer appearance and cooking quality compared to paddy rice. The way the rice was grown and the nitrogen levels had different effects on the two types of rice.
