Small and medium-sized businesses in Kenya face challenges in getting funding. Factors like the size of the business, its financial situation, and the skills of its owners affect its ability to get external funding. To understand this better, researchers looked at data from surveys and interviews, as well as information from books and the internet. The study suggests that the financial system needs to be more supportive of small businesses and close the gap between big and small companies in accessing funds. Small businesses are also encouraged to keep good financial records and work together to make it easier to get funding.
