Optimal wheat planting methods in Punjab increase crop yield and efficiency
The study looked at how different planting times, methods, and irrigation schedules affect wheat yield in Punjab, India. Wheat planted on November 10 using bed planting and a specific irrigation schedule had the highest yield, dry matter, and radiation-use efficiency. Water-use efficiency was highest with a certain irrigation treatment. Bed planting resulted in higher grain yield, water-use efficiency, and radiation-use efficiency compared to flat planting. The number of effective tillers, grains per ear, ear length, and grain weight were positively correlated with grain yield.
