Drought-resistant tea Chrysanthemum cultivars show promise for improving crop yields.
Drought stress affects tea Chrysanthemum plants differently. Four cultivars were studied to see how they respond to varying levels of drought. As drought stress increased, plant growth was inhibited, but root to shoot ratio increased to use soil moisture better. Plants increased certain substances to maintain cell health under stress. Chlorophyll content increased, but photosynthesis decreased. Different cultivars showed varying responses, with Ruhe performing better in terms of biomass yield and stress tolerance.
