Croatia's EU Accession Boosts GDP, Shifts Agricultural Production Structure.
Croatia joined the European Union in 2013, and researchers studied how this affected their agriculture and trade. They used a model called MAGNET to predict the outcomes. The results showed that Croatia's GDP increased slightly, while the EU's GDP didn't change much. Croatian agricultural exports went up by 7.4%, but food exports decreased by 2%. This means that Croatia will produce more agricultural products but less food. The study also highlighted challenges in the Croatian food industry's competitiveness. Other EU policies and benefits from joining the EU were not included in the study.
