Revolutionizing Land Cleanup: Bioremediation Targets Heavy Metal Contamination
The study analyzed 250 bioremediation research articles to identify research trends and gaps. Most research focused on land bioremediation (84.5%) and heavy metal cleanup (34%), with lab studies being dominant (75.9%). Microbial aspects were the main focus (59%), with bioreactors commonly used (82.9%). In situ research was limited (12.9%). Land bioremediation with hydrocarbons was a trending topic, while heavy metal cleanup was a hot topic. Future potential lies in in situ groundwater bioremediation for various pollutants.
